H. D. Smith, the largest independent wholesaler in the U.S. and a leading pharmaceutical brand support company, today announced the winners of its annual Trading Partners of the Year awards, honoring select pharmaceutical and health products manufacturers. These organizations partner with H. D. Smith to collaborate actively to grow the industry and advance patient care. Each award category recognizes two winners, based on criteria including trade volume, trade policies and overall sales, for excellence across each key H. D. Smith product area. This year’s Trading Partners of the Year are:

  • Brand and Specialty Pharmaceuticals: Horizon Pharma USA, Inc. and Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
  • Generic Pharmaceuticals: Alvogen, Inc. and Apotex, Inc.
  • Health, Beauty and Wellness Products: The Emerson Group and Prestige Brands, Inc.
  • Home Healthcare Products: Veridian Healthcare and LifeScan, Inc.

The awards were presented during the 2016 H. D. Smith National Sales & Management Conference, which emphasizes the company’s position to partner and innovate within the ever-evolving healthcare industry to ensure the nation’s specialty and retail pharmacies have access to essential products.

“H. D. Smith’s success in the market can be attributed to the strong relationships we have developed with our industry partners,” said Chris Smith, president and chief executive officer of H. D. Smith. “To express our appreciation and to show how important their partnership is to us, we honor our trading partners each year with these awards.”

The company’s 18th annual meeting epitomizes the lasting relationships that exist between H. D. Smith and its partners.

“Our alliance with trading partners is not only important to H. D. Smith, but it is also vital to achieve superior support of patient wellness,” said Dale Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of H. D. Smith Holding Company. “The complex process of moving healthcare products throughout the supply chain is critical to the livelihood of our nation. Having the strong relationships we have with our trading partners makes it possible for H. D. Smith to remain relevant in this constantly adapting healthcare system.”
