H. D. Smith, the largest privately held wholesaler in the U.S., is expanding its Texas Division in May 2015. Remaining in the Dallas, Texas area will allow the division to serve current customers more efficiently and grow the division’s customer base, while maintaining extraordinary customer service.

“This relocation solidifies our commitment to serving customers in Texas and the surrounding states,” said Chris Smith, H. D. Smith president and chief executive officer. “The search for a new facility accounted for many factors – space, ability to implement newer technologies and most importantly, location of the facility to effectively serve our current and prospective customers.”

Originally venturing into the Texas wholesale distribution market in 1995, H. D. Smith acquired Texas Drug Company in Fort Worth, Texas, which expanded the company’s geographic reach to Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, as well as parts of Arkansas, Kansas and New Mexico.

The new facility will increase the distribution center’s square footage significantly, allowing the facility to be more efficient.

In addition to the Dallas-area distribution center, H. D. Smith also operates a facility in Los Indios, Texas to fully service the home healthcare market in Texas.
