H. D. Smith and Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) announced today a multi-year agreement in which H. D. Smith will serve as the primary wholesaler for the health system. The two organizations are partnering to offer brand and generic pharmaceutical products to patients in southern Illinois.

“Continually building relationships with premier institutions like SIH, H. D. Smith is proud to work with such a respected organization,” said Chris Smith, president and CEO, H. D. Smith. “Our strategic intent is to improve patient outcomes through the products we provide, so partners like SIH help us fulfill that intent.”

Beginning in May 2015, H. D. Smith deliveries will fill all locations of SIH pharmacies throughout Southern Illinois.

“We partnered with H. D. Smith for a variety of reasons,” said Bob Self, D.Ph., System Director of Pharmacy Services for Southern Illinois Healthcare. “We have a good number of hospitals, clinics, outpatient centers and service lines under our umbrella. SIH needed a partner that could offer personal service to the buyers, bring more value to the organization and assist with best practices. We look forward to building our new relationship with H. D. Smith as a way to help us cope with the ever-changing healthcare environment.”
