H. D. Smith Promotes Leadership to Fill Two Senior Roles

New vice presidents part of ongoing focus to strengthen leadership, maximize growth potential

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – H. D. Smith recently announced the promotions of Jeff Greer to vice president of sales and Robert (“Bob”) Dynek, Jr. to vice president of purchasing and trade relations.  These appointments are the latest organizational announcement as the Company strengthens its senior leadership to maximize growth potential. 

As vice president of sales, Greer will lead the Company’s sales efforts to expand into new service sectors.  In his new role as vice president of purchasing and trade relations, Dynek will have primary responsibility for purchasing and managing inventory service levels across all business segments consistent with company objectives of investment relative to vendor support and profit opportunities.

Smith. “Together, they bring more than 50 years of expertise in pharmacy distribution and will be influential in helping us realize our goal of becoming the preferred pharmaceutical wholesaler nationwide.”

Greer has more than 20 years of pharmacy sales and wholesale distribution experience.  He joined H. D. Smith in 2005 as director of national accounts and most recently served as vice president division manager in H. D. Smith’s Louisville, Kentucky facility.  Greer joined the Company from AmerisourceBergen, a pharmaceutical services provider, holding roles of increasing responsibility including corporate vice president of strategic accounts and vice president and division manager for the southeast region.  He studied at the University of Kentucky and is a military veteran.

Dynek joined H. D. Smith in 1998 and has served as director of vendor relations and manager of vendor relations and programs.  During his time at H. D. Smith, Dynek’s experience includes oversight and category management for the brand pharmaceuticals business segment, as well as day-to-day inventory management for the brand and generic pharmaceuticals business segments, representing over 95 percent of total company sales.  Prior to joining H. D. Smith, Dynek served at General Drug Company, Foxmeyer Corporation and Louis Zahn Drug Company, all in a purchasing capacity.  He received his Bachelor of Science in commerce from DePaul University.
